What is a Fanlisting? : If you're not sure what a fanlisting is, it is a place for all fans of a particular show, movie, actor, actress, singer, etc. to come together and build the biggest listing of people from all around the world who are fans of that subject. In this case, this is the fanlisting for Hitsugaya Toushirou's zanpakutou Hyourinmaru from the animanga Bleach.hyourinmaru
Hyourinmaru can be literally translated as 'ice ring' or 'full moon'. The guard of it when it is in its zanpakutou form is shaped as a four-pointed star. It's shikai, Soten Ni Zase (Sit Upon the Frozen Heavens), shows that it is a ice type zanpakutou and is indeed the strongest water-ice elemental zanpakutou in all of Soul Society. When its weilder, Hitsugaya Toushirou, draws Hyourinmaru out, the sheath in which it is kept in dissolves. It is already revealed that Hyourinmaru's spirit is that of a chinese dragon. In it's shikai form, Hyourinmaru freezes anything it touches and is able to form ice instantly by using the moisture in the air to its advantage. It also allows Hitsugaya to control water and ice through the use of a chain-blade shaped somewhat like a crescent moon.Hyourinmaru's bankai, Daiguren Hyourinmaru (Great Crimson Lotus Ice Ring), allows Hitsugaya to fly through the air by forming wings and a tail from ice onto Hitsugaya. Ice also forms a dragon's head on Hitsugaya's right hand and its hilt is transformed into a eight-pointed star. His hands and feet are covered in ice which allows to move around freely without any discomfort. Because the ice wings are bigger than Hitsugaya's figure, he is able to use them as a shield to block opponents' attacks. There are also three (as of current) objects that form behind Hitsugaya which serve as something like lifelines. They are shaped like lotus flowers each with four petals which melt as Hitsugaya attacks. However, it is apparant in the anime that Hitsugaya can regenerate Hyourinmaru indefinately even if the lotus flowers are gone as long as there is moisture in the air. Hyourinmaru in its bankai form has two known attacks as of right now. The first one is Ryusenka (Dragon Hail Flower) which allows Hitsugaya to freeze and trap any opponent he stabs in a cocoon of ice and then shatter them. The second attack is Sennen Hyoro (Thousand Year Ice Prison) which forms many ice pillars and can envelope and surround the enemy.

Hitsugaya is the captain of the Tenth Division which is part of the Goutei 13. As young as he may seems, he is considered a child prodigy in Soul Society for his quick advancement into the Goutei 13. He is close to several people which includes Motsumoto Rangiku (his lieutenant) and Hinamori Momo (his childhood friend). He is given the nickname of "Shiro-Chan" which means "Whitey" in reference to his white hair. Shiro is also a part of Hitsugaya's name meaning "winter", matching his white hair and his ice zanpakutou. Hitsugaya has a cold exterior and only puts down his guard around the people he trusts being Matsuomoto, Hinamori, and perhaps even others like Ichigo and Renji.

Hitsugaya is one of the few shinigamis in the Bleach series to carry his zanpakutou on his back. By looking, one of the main reasons for doing this is because of his short height, but long zanpakutou. Hence, it is more convenient for him to carry his zanpakutou on his back. Hitsugaya had first met Hyourinmaru in his dream after his first encounterment with Rangiku. He woke up to find that his enormous spirit power was out of of control and he had frozen his grandmother. Rangiku showed up and convinced him to become a shinigami. Although Hyourinmaru is not like Zangetsu and can talk to its weilder, it and Hitsugaya think alike. Both entities have an icy exterior and never lets their guards down. Furthermore, both are strong in their own ways and is very strong-willed which is very apparant in their battles. Both are like ying and yang and need the other to balance themselves. Just like Hitsugaya needs Hyourinmaru in order to control his spirit power and grow stronger, Hyourinmaru needs a weilder like Hitsugaya who will set down his own saga.
